The Art of The Ballad Singing Intensive

Some songs deserve your full attention. This conservatory-style musical theater intensive invites performers ages 16 and up to spend the week developing a single musical theater ballad through focused coaching, rehearsal, and live performance.
Rather than moving quickly from song to song, each student works deeply on one piece, strengthening breath support, vocal stamina, sustained phrasing, lyric interpretation, character development, and emotional specificity. Faculty provide personalized coaching that helps performers unite healthy vocal technique with truthful storytelling, creating performances that are both technically confident and emotionally compelling.
Throughout the intensive, students will:
• Develop one musical theater ballad through focused rehearsal and individualized coaching.
• Strengthen breath support, vocal stamina, and sustained phrasing.
• Explore lyrics as dramatic text to create authentic, specific acting choices.
• Deepen emotional connection while maintaining healthy vocal technique.
• Refine a polished performance for a live public showcase.
The intensive culminates in The Ballad Showcase, where students perform their completed work on the LACAE stage for family, friends, and fellow artists.
Open to performers ages 16+, this intensive welcomes both dedicated teens and adults who are looking for focused musical theater training in a collaborative, professionally supervised environment. Whether you're preparing material for auditions, cabarets, concerts, or simply looking to deepen your artistry, you'll leave with stronger vocal technique, greater confidence, and a performance that is ready to continue developing beyond the classroom.
